MtNPA: Make the 'Net Punk Again! Support the OpenSource Software Ecosystem and the Open Sourced exchange of knowledge! Fund
As an Engineer I struggle to reconcile the reality that so much is built atop OpenSource Software, so much is learned from free and open knowledge banks... and rarely is much paid back in developer time, contributions, or funding.
Here I'm trying to hand pick a few OSS initiatives, and free, Creative Commons licensed knowledge sharing services that I believe still attempt to maintain the original intent of the Internet.
Way I figure it, supporting OSS and Creative Commons is good mojo toward the career of any engineer who uses these tools, and for me it's a moral issue. Yes, not as critical as humanitarian aid, but in the long-haul, likely pretty effective towards the Internet & Tech that I dream of.
As I discover more viable nonprofits to fund, I should be able to add them here.
Some on that list for the future:
* Creative Commons (https://creativecommons.org/): (When supported by BrightFunds)
* Rust Foundation (https://rustfoundation.org/): (When supported on BrightFunds)
* OpenSource Collective (https://opencollective.com/opensource): Which provides Financial services, legal support, and various other support to upstart OSS technology projects.
